Our Thursday night Intermediate/Advanced class on 17 July 08 saw 15 males and 15 females on the dance floor. It was a spot-on 50:50 ratio and quite possibly a record male attendance at a regular class. Not all our males were there, and certainly not all of our woman dancers, but it struck us instantly that we were very very fortunate to have this balance in our classes. Even in our beginners classes, we have several male dancers which is a healthy sign for the future. Recently, on the Rikud and Machol Ha-am yahoo discussion groups, there has been lots of emails from dancers & teachers from all around the world regarding their sessions having insufficient males to dance partners and many women either have to dance together or have to sit out altogether, because they don't have partners.When I first started partner dancing, I was in the same situation of not have a partner (male or female) for many years. I learnt the partner dances on my own and occasionally I would be "allowed" to have someone else's partner to dance with! At ZOOZ, we have on several occasions in our Wednesday night partner class and in our partners bracket at the end of Thursday night, have had 2 men dancing together (and having fun with it!) because of a lack of FEMALE dancers on those nights!! Our ratios are nearly always 50/50 male/female in our partner classes, which is very rare anywhere around the world.(except in Israel of course!) We are VERY proud of that!

WE ARE DEFINITELY THE BEGINNERS SPECIALISTS. WE ARE COMMITTED TO TEACHING THE BASICS IN THE QUICKEST & BEST POSSIBLE WAY (& THE MOST FUN TOO!) SUGGEST TO YOUR FRIENDS TO GIVE US A TRY BEFORE COMMITTING TO CLASSES ANYWHERE ELSE.
Following all the NEW BEGINNERS sessions are the BEGINNERS TO LOW-INTERMEDIATE CLASSES. You are always welcome to stay as long as you wish to either watch, or to participate in the more advanced session, at no extra cost.

Loui Tucker started folk dancing in 1971 (International dancing) and began specializing in Israeli folk dancing in 1973. She started teaching international folk dancing in April 1980. She started the Israeli dancing class two years later - May 1982. She teaches in the San Francisco Bay area on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday nights, and once a month on Saturday nights.
